2019 Round up!

I love this time of the year! Because, it's time for a round up! Yay! I don't know about you, but I had a happening year. Between Graduation, Sherlock's knee surgery, living alone in Singapore, Sherlock moving to Singapore, me trying to find my footing at work and tonnes of resolutions to keep up, I had my hands full. I can look back at the year and say, I am glad we went through what we did, because believe it or not, as cliches go, we came out stronger. But, what made me the happiest this year was how hard I worked at my non-work related resolutions. I wanted to read 50 books and I completed my 50th book yesterday. It was hard, but I cannot put it in words, how much it was worth the effort. One of my complaints to myself was always that I didn't read enough non-fiction. This year, I read 15. I just cannot get over that. Here are the 50 books I read: I wanted to write a lot this year. I did it in spurts, but I did write. I did a blogatho...

Embarrassing Reality Checks

This is easily the most embarassing post on my blog, till date. But I guess, most reality checks are. So, when I was 24, I wrote out a list of things I wish to do by the time I am 30 . I don't know what I was thinking, clearly, not about being realistic. I turn 30 in 10 days. Time to take a look at the list and hide in shame. First the unavoidables, lets get done with them first - Fall in love, get married. :P - DONE. Thank God for that. Travel. A lot. Europe, South America, New Zealand, South East Asia, South Africa, who knows maybe US also! - Well. I traveled a lot to Europe. Again and again to Europe. That does not count, does it? I did not cover any of the other places on the list. And I thought I traveled well. Visit all the major cities - New York, London, Paris,  Tokyo , Chicago, Berlin, Sydney. - Fail. Again. Done with London and Berlin. Travel. A Lot. In India. - Not much, again. The standards. Goa, Mumbai. Seriously start thinking about writing a bo...

The One Where We Take on Oxford. Hmmph.

Words are never enough to describe what we feel. So, I decided to take it upon myself to create some new words for convenience. Of course, I mailed the list to Oxford. While they mull over my genius, I decided to share the list here too. Consider this an exclusive preview! Feel free to use them. No royalty whatsoever! ********************************************************* blothargy /blo-thar-gy/ Noun 1. Lethargy related to blogging Adjective 1. The feeling of wanting to blog, but not wanting to lift a finger:  "I want to write about FIFA, but I feel blothargic today." ********************************************************* stratmonger /strat-mon-ger/ Noun 1. One who attempts to spread fear among normal, happy people with usage of terms of and related to "strategy":  "My boss is never invited to meetings. He is a stratmonger, you know." #TrueStory 2. A species of fearmongers in the corporate world *******************************...

Under the Table and Dreaming..

Don't even ask. Where have I been, what have I been doing, why wasn't I blogging, why am I invisible? One word reply - B-School. If I wanted to talk about that, I wouldn't be blogging which also explains my absence all this while. But here's what I want to talk about! So, I came across  Matt Haig's website and his lists  excited me enough to actually open the Blogger dashboard and write. Here's my collection of lists: Things I Love: City Lights at night that twinkle when I wrinkle my eyes John Mayer's songs on a loop Sitting on a beach with feet sinking in the sand and crystals in the hair Hot Pakodis and jalebi on a rainy day Green fields rushing by in a blur on a highway drive Hanging your head down from the Upper berth on the train to scare someone Looking at class photographs from 20 years back and recognizing people Lazy Sunday brunch at home Gossiping with my sister at 1 in the night The extremely rare momen...
