He stood right there, in the middle of the room.
Looking smart and dapper after his early morning groom.
Looking around, he smiled at everyone,
But they walked past him, one by one.
He scratched his head and tried again,
After all, it happens now and then.
He patted his hair and put on his best smile,
But no one looked at him in a long while!
Surprised, he decided to try something new,
He made the most disgusting face he knew.
Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero.
Noone looked at him, he felt like a weirdo!
What was wrong, he wondered,
He was visible all along.
Suddenly what happened?
Was he being abandoned?
He gave up and got ready to go.
Adjusting his trunk steady and slow
And that's when he saw the light behind his gloom,
He was literally the elephant in the room!! :P

Excellent build-up to as great punchline. When I saw the word "everyone" (he smiled at everyone), I thought that was the word except it didn't give anything away.
